Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

The objective of the assignment was to prepare a Feasibility Study report on the project entitled ‘Maintenance & Renovation of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy.’

Feasibility study is an analysis that takes all of a project relevant factor into account including social, technological, economic, environmental/ethical, legal, internal, and external considerations to ascertain the likelihood of completing and sustaining the project successfully. In this case, it is indispensable to study the feasibility of the Project entitled “Feasibility Study for Maintenance & Renovation of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy’.

Specific Objectives:

To explore the feasible options for the Maintenance & Renovation of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy’.

To assess the sizeable benefits of delivering training and learning to the students.

Notably, it is useful to conduct  feasibility studies to discern the pros and cons of undertaking these projects before investing a lot of time, money, and human resources into it. A Team of experts from SOMZ Consultants made a thorough review of the TOR for having a good understanding of the tasks to be performed. The Team developed study tools after complete review of related documents and extensive discussion with BSA officials. The following instruments were used for collection of information:

A three-day training for the Research Assistants was organized to provide training to the research assistants to keep uniformity of data collection techniques and approaches and to maintain desired quality of data. The first day was on theory demonstration of collection of information followed by one-day of practical training in the field for pre-testing and sharing of experiences with each other and experts and one day for reviewing. Apart from the foundation lectures on how to fill in the questionnaire, collection, entry and sending of data through on-line system, group discussions, role playing in the class room, and question and answer sessions were arranged. The experts and senior key personnel of the firm provided the training.

The study explores the viability of Renovation of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy and Culture Center.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by our Staff:

The study was broken down into three milestones: Inception Report by 10 May 2021, Draft Report by 31 May 2021 and Final report by 16 June 2021.

Project scope was analyzed to identify physical limits. Then feasibility study was conducted analyzing technical, managerial, economic, financial, cultural, political, and environmental feasibilities with engineering estimates for the preparation of the draft development project proposal (DPP) on ‘Maintenance & Renovation of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy.

Data were gathered through brainstorming, interviews, FGDs, questionnaire & engineering surveys, and reviewing national documents (8^th Five Year Plan, Perspective Plan (2021-41), Bangladesh Constitution and Historical Speech delivered on the 7^th  March of 1971 by the Father of the Nation).

Findings of the Project:

Data were analyzed, and the final report was prepared. The report found that Sunamgonj is Cultural center and the birthplace of the Famous Poet, Hassan Raja and Baul Samrat Shah Abdul Karim.

The proposed project ‘Maintenance &Renovation of Sunamgonj District Shilpakala Academy’ was found to be viable and recommended in the final Feasibility report.
